According to Norwegian local media and China Nonferrous Metals recently reported, Norwegian aluminum producer Norsk Hydro recently established a bauxite and alumina sales department in China to strengthen its market expansion in China in order to increase its supply to China's aluminum plants. . The company believes that the establishment of an alumina sales department in Beijing will not only sell aluminum inventories to Chinese operators, but also ship aluminum to small Chinese companies that cannot obtain the necessary financing and import only a small amount of metal at a time. Up to now, Hydro Group Beijing Company is still making profits. China's aluminum output currently accounts for half of the world's total, with an annual output of more than 50 million tons of aluminum. The company expects that the supply of aluminum in China and the export of aluminum to overseas will continue.
Before 2015, the company exported about 400,000-500,000 tons of alumina per year to China. Previously, the company had 5-6 customers in China and has now increased to 10-12. The company's goal is to sell 600,000-700,000 tons of alumina in China this year, and further increase it to 800,000 tons next year, and eventually increase to 1 million tons per year, which is equivalent to one-fifth of China's annual alumina imports. The company believes that “for Norwegian (rich) hydropower, it is very important to improve the connection with China's aluminum industry.”
